The automotive industry can be unpredictable. You may be the biggest fish in the aquarium one day, but you may be someone else’s dinner the next day. Arguably, fashion in the auto industry changes almost as fast as fish in a sushi restaurant.
Plus, it goes beyond mere fashion trends like the most popular car color or body type. Both the sales of new vehicles to the masses and the types of drivetrains used are influenced by trends in the automotive industry. Almost as often as the seasons, all these aspects of the automotive industry change. However, which of these dynamic automotive trends would you like to stop now?
You might not like the color choices that are trending right now (gray or silver), or that nearly all cars are SUVs, but hopefully this is just a time of transition for the auto industry. You might be offended if automakers insist that we must have a self-driving car. Then there are the plethora of companies claiming to produce flying cars. Is this what drivers really want to see in the near future?
Plus, some trends in the auto industry are reminiscent of “Blade Runner.” You might not like the light blue accents that appear on all EV concepts. Maybe you’d be right to think that the current crop of Formula 1 cars with their matte intact all look like garbage trucks. Here are the top 5 fads to consider:
Fake performance awards
reject fake performance badges. Almost every luxury automaker offers a high-performance lineup. Mercedes-Benz sports AMG logo. BMW has a division called M. These top-of-the-line models are much more expensive than entry-level models, so instead of paying 25,000 yuan for the real thing, sometimes people just buy “AMG” or “M” plates to stick on the rear of the car. The fact that these guys are taking the initiative is commendable, but I’m not sure it will impress anyone.
Monitor Overload
It makes sense to monitor your engine. After all, a car’s engine is the beating heart. However, most of the gauges needed to track the general operation of the car are factory installed. If the engine has an aftermarket turbo system, it might be a good idea to install a boost gauge. Exhaust gas temperature gauges, fuel pressure gauges, or air-fuel ratio gauges are unnecessary unless your vehicle has something unusual under the hood.

For years, race teams have emphasized side skirt and spoiler downforce. If you notice the increase in the number of rockets with fancy spoilers and other ground-effect accessories, you realize that this technology eventually made its way into high-performance street cars. Of course, most of these aftermarket upgrades have not been wind tunnel tested. If they had any effect, it would be to slow the car down a bit.
Infinite Modifiability
Engineers can interface a car’s many electronic control systems—including the engine, transmission, steering, throttle, and suspension—and design settings for “comfort,” “sport,” and even “economy.” In a crossover, for example, this adjustability is beneficial. This is to increase performance at the touch of a button or the turn of a knob to a level that is not suitable as a default setting. However, a sporty vehicle should always be agile, engaging and responsive.
Driving the
engine without the hood looks really cool. Those that have been reworked with sizable superchargers, turbochargers, and other shiny fast-moving components look even tougher. But cars without hoods is a trend that needs to stop. First, it’s banned in some states. Even if it’s not technically illegal, any cop can pull you over and make sure everything else is legal even though it’s not technically illegal. Who wants to cause so much trouble? Additionally, unprotected engine components can be severely damaged by inclement weather and road debris.
